BIO
Dan Garner is a guitarist from Perth, WA. After growing up in the small wheatbelt town of Wyalkatchem he found a love for all things music in Perth. Since graduating from the Western Australian Academy for Performing Arts (BMus, Hons. Jazz Performance 2016) he has garnered a reputation as a consistent performer with attention to detail.
Dan has travelled to New York to develop his skills, as well as completing a national tour to promote ‘Organised Chaos’ with the Gemma Farrell Quintet (GFQ). He has also recorded music with local groups The Artemis Orchestra, ELWYN and Queency. He also arranged the horns on Queency’s latest single ‘Too Late.’ As well as recording, he performs regularly around the state with GFQ, Queency, The 9 Fifty Express, Brass Party and a Radiohead Jazz Big Band called The Amnesiacs.
On top of these collaborations Garner has recorded his own music. (‘East of the West’ - 2021). This music has also been featured at many local venues including The Ellington Jazz Club, The Duke of George, Ronnie Nights and the famous Rodney’s Bait and Tackle. In 2015 he featured as a part of the Perth International Jazz Festival. 2017 saw his Quintet performing as a part of the King St Corner Pocket Festival. He has also performed more recently at Jazz By The Beach (2021), Jazz On The Rocks (2022) and the York Jazz Festival (2023).
In late 2023 he will feature on Matt Smith's 'Driftwood' release as well as on the next Mace Francis Orchestra record. Garner will be recording and releasing an album of his own compositions in trio format in late 2023/early 2024.
